When It’s Time to Seek a ENT
Ear-Related Issues
- Hearing loss that lasts more than a few days or keeps coming back
- Ear pain, pressure, or fullness not improving with primary care treatment
- Frequent ear infections (more than 2–3 per year)
- Tinnitus (ringing or buzzing) that’s persistent or worsening
- Dizziness or balance problems, especially with nausea or falls
- Ear drainage (especially if bloody or foul-smelling)
Nose and Sinus Concerns
- Chronic sinus infections (symptoms lasting >12 weeks or recurring often)
- Persistent nasal congestion or obstruction, especially if only on one side
- Frequent nosebleeds or bleeding that’s hard to control
- Loss of smell or taste lasting weeks
- Nasal polyps or suspected structural issues (e.g., deviated septum)
Throat and Voice Problems
- Sore throat or hoarseness lasting >2 weeks
- Difficulty swallowing or feeling something “stuck” in the throat
- Chronic cough not linked to lung or allergy issues
- Sleep apnea symptoms (loud snoring, choking during sleep, daytime fatigue)
- Swollen lymph nodes or neck masses that don’t go away after 2–3 weeks
Other Reasons
- Head and neck pain that’s unexplained or localized
- Facial swelling, numbness, or weakness
- Evaluation for head or neck tumors, thyroid nodules, or salivary gland issues
